Liberty Volunteer Fire Department’s first annual predator hunt went well. We had a great turnout, with a total of 21 teams! Liberty Volunteer Fire Department is opening up the Early Registration for our Predator Hunt February 27th 2026. Pre-Registration is not required!! You may still show up 6-8pm on the 27th for in person registration.

Here are the steps for early registration:

1) ONE PERSON from each team send a Facebook message to Liberty Volunteer Fire Department OR send a text to 434-471-6633 (please no phone calls)

2) in the message you must include each team members name with a minimum of 2 of the team members phone numbers

3) let us know which side pots you are interested in which are $10 each, per team (total of 3 heaviest weight side pots)

4) total up your selections and send the money to the Fire Departments Venmo which is included in this post. ($100 per team + $10 per side pot per team)

5) once payment is received, you will be sent an assigned Team Number that will be your “confirmation”. Along with that you’ll be sent a photo of the registration sheet that we will fill out with the members names, phone numbers, and shown selections of price breakdown

6) then your all set!! We will see you Saturday morning on the 28th from 7-9am.

**THINGS TO REMEMBER**
- Once a team is registered (starting at 6pm) we will not hold you, you may begin hunting.
- Mouth blocks must be used. The Hunt Code will be posted at the fire department at registration time, this code must be written on each mouth block
- pre-registered teams will receive a text to the phone numbers provided to us with the Hunt Code at 6pm on the 27th
- We do have some mouth blocks ready to hand out now if you need some, send us a message. You ARE allowed to provide/use your own. Nothing complicated, just a wooden block any size, fits in the animals mouth with the code written on it
- teams must show up to check in BEFORE 0900 am on the 28th. We will score all teams as you show up starting at 0700am but will not score a team that shows up past 0900am. Once all teams are scored then the winners will be announced
- at least 2 members of each team must be present at scoring to qualify
- The money sent to the fire department for this hunt via Venmo will be non-refundable unless a mistake is made initially on sending the incorrect amount.
- The evening of registration, we will accept Cash or Venmo

6:14:56 PM on 02-02-2026 Liberty Fire department was dispatched to a residential house fire. Upon arrival no flames or smoke were showing from the structure. During the investigation the caller reported the dryer had caught fire and they put it out with a fire extinguisher. Thank you to Halifax and North Halifax fire department for assisting with extra man power and engines and a tanker.
