This week is shaping up to be a busy week for crews between emergency calls and training. We were fortunate to secure a home slated for demolition for some hands on practical trainings. These trainings are important for skills development and we are fortunate to train in these buildings before they are taken down. We were also fortunate to have Eversource in for an advanced metering class. Providing our crews with a review of common concepts and advanced techniques when dealing with gas emergencies. The last picture in the post was a review of flammable limits and how this plays a role in response to gas emergencies. Thank you to Eversource for the refresher program and the awesome hands on demonstrations! Training keeps our crews ready for anything & everything and is a vital component of our job.

Members of the Natick Fire Department recently attended an Advanced Gas School hosted by Eversource. This training provided our firefighters with hands on experience and enhanced knowledge of natural gas emergencies, including leak identification, meter operations, and safe mitigation practices. Partnering with our utility partners at Eversource ensures our crews are prepared to respond safely and effectively to gas related incidents in our community. A big thank you to Eversource for hosting this valuable training opportunity.

Earlier this morning crews were dispatch to the Mall for a reported fire. Crews arrived to find a smoke condition in a service corridor. Further investigation revealed a trash container on fire which was being kept in check by the sprinkler system. The fire is under investigation by members of the Fire District 14 Fire Investigation Unit but does not appear suspicious. Properly functioning sprinklers making a difference!
