School is back in session, which means there will be an increase in traffic, busses, and student walkers. It is important to remember and review the following!

⚠️SCHOOL ZONE SPEED LIMIT IS 15 MPH⚠️

🔹There will be an increased amount of traffic and
student walkers:
- Slow Down
- Stop for walkers and School Buses
- Obey all traffic laws and patterns
- Follow Traffic Officers/Crossing Guards

‼️NEVER attempt to go around a school bus when flashing yellow or red lights are activated and stop sign extended.

A single lane inbound of the Freeport Bridge from Westmoreland County, passing through Harrison Township and into Butler County is closed due to Transmission Power Lines blocking the lane.

Emergency Services and West Penn Power are on scene assessing.

Power remains out in the area, including multiple intersections. Any intersection with no power, should be treated as a 4-way stop sign.

Expect rolling road closures and traffic delays within the Township on August 15th beginning around 10:00AM as the Annual Officer Brian Shaw Memorial Scholarship Motorcycle Ride passes through.

Affected Roads will include:
✅State Route 28 NB between Exit 15 and 16
✅State Route 908 between Banbury Drive and Freeport Road [Including Alter Road and Silverville Road]
✅Freeport Road NB/SB between State Route 908 and the Allegheny County/Butler County Line

‼️Please exercise caution in the area and stay attentive to changing road closures and traffic patterns.

‼️Stay attentive as an increased number of motorcycles will be in the area. Pay attention to public safety personnel and agencies.

Another successful International Baseball tournament fireworks display in the books! Thank you on behalf of everyone to Freeport International Baseball Invitational - FIBI for making this evenings display possible. Wagon 70, Utility 70 and Medic 70-1 stood by with SouthBuffalo VFD, Harrison Hills VFC #4, Sarver VFC Fire/Rescue, Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company and Allegheny Township Fire Company #1 for the event. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) has placed All of Pennsylvania in a Code Red 🔴 Air Quality Action Day for particulate matter (PM2.5) for Thursday, July 16, 2026.

Wildfire smoke from Canada and Minnesota will be entering Pennsylvania counties.

Pennsylvania residents should limit their outdoor activities, especially older people, children, those who are active outdoors, and those with lung or respiratory conditions such as asthma, emphysema, or bronchitis.

Fire & Emergency Services in conjunction with the Township of Harrison Department of Code Enforcement reminds everyone that it is prohibited to discharge any firework within 150’ of an occupied structure, toward any structure or vehicle, discharged from a vehicle or structure, or while under the influence of alcohol, a controlled substance, or any type of drug.

‼️Fireworks start an estimated 31,000 fires annually, including 3,504 structure fires, 887 vehicle fires, 26,492 outside fires, and 418 unclassified fires. These fires caused an estimated 6 civilian deaths, 44 civilian injuries and an estimated $109 million in property damage.

Engine company assisted our public safety partners last evening in the borough of Freeport.

ODOR OF ELECTRICAL BURNING - FT2

This evening around 7pm, Freeport Fire-EMS was dispatched to the 120 blk of Washington St for the odor of electrical burning. Chief 70 arrived to assume command, with Wagon 70 and Medic 70-1 also arriving within minutes of dispatch. Crews investigated and found no hazards, no readings on thermal imaging cameras or gas meters. The incident was held to units on scene, Southern Armstrong Regional PD SouthBuffalo VFD Harrison Hills VFC #4 and Sarver VFC Fire/Rescue.
