The Officers and Members regret to announce the passing of Life Member Frank Cassoni. Frank joined the company in 2000 and served 20 years, receiving his life membership award in 2021. At one point in time he was the company photographer and over his membership was a huge supporter of company fundraisers. For all that he has done for Hilltop Hose and for his companionship, he will be dearly missed. We ask that you keep Frank's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the deaths of four of our own.

On December 20th, 1991, David Emanuelson, Frank Veri, Jr., Michael Cielicki Burns, and Richard Frantz answered their final call and perished in a commercial structure fire in Brackenridge.

Each year, we visit where they rest to honor and remember their lives and dedication to our company and ultimately their community. Despite what life has thrown our way this year much like last year, this year will be no different.

Appropriately, we have met four times over the course of 2021 to continue to learn and reflect from this tragedy, hearing presentations from local, state, and even international officials and experts. Today, we will meet one final time this year at each resting place to pay our respects to those that gave their all.

We will always remember; lest we forget.

Just a notice:

Neighbors and community members, tonight during Harrison's Trick-or-Treating event, a handful of our members will be patrolling our response district in our marked apparatus and personally-owned vehicles as per tradition. It is another way of us showing our dedication to keeping the community safe. *Sirens/horns will not be used in conjunction with emergency lighting unless we are dispatched to an actual emergency.*

That said, please use extra caution on our roadways as families will be out and about. We strongly recommend driving slowly through all residential neighborhoods within the Township.

Know the difference between a "chirp" and a "beep". A "chirp" could mean that you need to replace your alarm, or simply change its battery. Alarms should be replaced every 10 years. Learn more about this and other fire safety tips at: https://www.nfpa.org/.../Events/Fire-Prevention-Week/About

It's that time of year, again! Fire Prevention Week begins today, October 3rd and runs through Saturday, October 9th. This year's theme is "Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety", focusing on the importance of working smoke and CO (carbon monoxide) alarms! Knowing what to do when an alarm sounds will keep you and your family safe. When an alarm makes noises (a beeping sound or a chirping sound) you MUST take action! Today marks twenty years since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and a third location had it not been for those on Flight 93 taking action, bringing the fourth plane down in Shanksville, PA.

It is a difficult reminder for all of us as our world had been changed forever; not just in emergency response but the country in general.

This year and every year we remember the lives lost - both civilian and responders - to this tragedy and with that we will never forget the sacrifices made. "All gave some, some gave all."

Today my scheduled meeting with Allegheny County Fire Instructor Mike Krzeminski was cut short. Unfortunately he was summoned to a fire call in West Tarentum which I followed him and witnessed first responders EMS and multiple #PADistrict33 fire companies put out a house fire as well as worked diligently to help a first responder. I was made aware that two families will be displaced temporarily and the American Red Cross will be working those families to help.
