The course-crucial for virtually all law enforcement professional trainers, from street officers and field supervisors to investigators, attorneys, and administrators-mutes the rhetoric prevalent in today's emotionally charged atmosphere and unbiasedly focuses on the proven scientific realities surrounding human behavior as they apply to efforts to de-escalate situations.

This course includes 14 hours of lecture and presentations and 2 hours of lab. In the lab, students participate in a teaching exercise and work through various de-escalation scenarios while being observed by other students and coached by instructors.

It’s sad really, but should we be surprised? For years we/some danced in front of cameras, dumped buckets of ice on our/their heads and did our best to show everyone that we are just like them. All the while politicians and leadership did everything they could do convince, engrain and indoctrinate young officers that the way of the past was no longer relevant and downright barbaric and that if we just softened our approach and removed the line between us and them the other side would follow suite. Well, here we are; nearly a decade later and we still wait for the other side meet us at that halfway point. The problem is evil people continue to shift the line in their favor and demand we change our ways to fit their needs.

Don’t act surprised when nasty people treat us nasty, we’ve done our best to convince them we’re just the same. Why should they treat us any different? Stay safe and stay healthy. Law enforcement and public service is still a noble profession and sooner or later the public will demand we return order to a world of chaos.
