Our school welcomed Roger Day, singer/songwriter from Nashville, TN. Mr. Day taught a song writing workshop to the 5th grade classes where they brainstormed, wrote lyrics and recorded an original song under his guidance in under an hour. 5th grade then presented their song "We're Living in a Solar System" to the school in an afternoon performance by Mr. Day titled "Dream Big". A HUGE thank you to Roger Day for coming to share your time and talent with the students at NBES!

Paris Guerrero, WLU practicum student in Mrs. Lynch's music class, taught a lesson on the string family to our 2nd and 3rd grade students. As part of the lesson, she demonstrated how to play the violin and even gave the students the opportunity to try the instrument themselves. Thank you, Miss Paris!

Attention NBES families. It is that time of year, when we need your feedback on our Title I program here at NBES. Your comments and suggestions help our school plan meaningful literacy experiences for our students all across the curriculum, whether your child is involved in Title I Reading or not. We are so excited to share that our school has received another generous grant from the Rockbridge County Public Schools Foundation (RCPSF) for our music program! Over the past 8 years, the RCPSF has helped NBES purchase mallets, xylophones, contrabass bars, metallophones, glockenspiels, rolling carts for the instruments, temple blocks, and cardio drums. Our students have access to multiple instruments supporting a diverse, hands-on, playful experience for all of our students. Mrs. Lynch and the students would like to thank the Foundation for their continued support!
