Kaitlyn continues to stay involved in the PA 490 tax situation for CT Farmers. Yesterday, I attended a meeting at Bishop’s Orchards with other farmers and voiced my concern about the 2025 process and how it should be amended moving forward. I spoke with our Governor, Lt Gov, the Commissioner of Agriculture, and the Farm Bureau Directors about the need for transparency and accountability. No one from the OPM office was present.

CT Farmers have faced significant challenges over the past several years with natural disasters, rising labor costs, and rising supply costs, with little ability for us to raise our prices. I will continue to be involved with this and support the working group members as they revise this assessment process.

We lose CT farms every year. Most farms are barely breaking even. Support local farms and commit to buying at least some portion of your groceries from a local grower this year, even if it’s just a few items. Our livelihood depends on it! Naugatuck, and now Milford, have been incredible in this regard for our business. Our business would not be where it’s at without the Naugatuck and Milford communities and your investment in us as a local grower.
