Flood Damage Road Closure Update
**Update 8/5/2026**
Rubber Avenue is Open

Construction crews are working throughout the night and into tomorrow to repair the infrastructure and road damage caused by the recent flooding on Rubber Avenue and Aetna Street.

Rubber Avenue between Arch Street and Andrew Avenue will remain closed throughout tomorrow. Additionally, Aetna Street from Rubber Avenue to Aetna Place is not passable and will remain closed until the repair work is completed. Please use Scott Street as a detour or an alternative route.

Traffic Advisory – Road Closures
Beginning Monday, July 20 🚧

Beginning Monday, July 20, motorists should expect significant traffic impacts due to road construction in the area of May Street and Lincoln Street.

The following roads/intersections will be closed to through traffic:
• May Street between Donovan Road and Mulberry Street
• Lincoln Street between May Street and Auburn Street
• May Street at Donovan Road
• May Street at Mulberry Street
• Lincoln Street at May Street
• Auburn Street at Lincoln Street

The project is expected to last approximately one month. Detours will be in place and may change as construction progresses. Please follow all posted signage and directions from officers and traffic control personnel.

We encourage motorists to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes whenever possible. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as these roadway improvements are completed.

With high temperatures expected, the Naugatuck Senior Center will be open as a cooling station for anyone who needs a place to escape the heat.

Date: July 14 & July 15
Time: Open until 6:00 PM
Where: 300 Meadow Street

Please check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may not have access to air conditioning. Stay hydrated, limit time outdoors during peak heat, and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.
