Along with Agrilife Extension MadisonCounty , we hosted our annual Feral Hog 3 Hour CEU program today.

We had several speakers on topics such as feral hog behavior and potential effects of New World Screwworm to wildlife and Feral Hogs

A special thanks for volunteers from Grimes County Master Gardeners for helping us facilitate the program.

We also had a special presentation from our local Texas Brigades who are our future wildlife and land stewards.

Grimes County Prairie View A&M Cooperative Extension Family and Community Health Agent Carla Hayes received the Grimes County 4-H "Friend of 4-H" award last Sunday.

Carla is a longtime supporter of 4-H activities in Grimes County and she has assisted with record books, projects, and educational tours. Beyond these duties, she has ensured meeting locations for club meetings and workshops and has made flyers for community service projects.

Furthermore, she has helped chaperone National 4-H and Congress trips, leadership lab, and has been involved in educational programs through Cooperative Extension at Prairie View A&M University College of Agriculture and Science.

Other organizations and programs she assist with that have an indirect benefit to 4-H include Grimes County Fair Creative Arts, Back to School, Diabetic Classes, Car Safety, Health and Wellness, Childhood Obesity, and Parenting Classes.

Carla is a true asset to our youth and to the entire Grimes County community.

This event will be held on Thursday, August 13th. Registration will start at 8:30am with the program starting at 9:00 and adjourning at 12:00.

Grimes County Fairgrounds- Lions Club Building- 5220 FM 3455, Navasota, TX 77868

Three CEU's (General) will be awarded to eligible participants.
Pre-registration with payment is required. The cost to registration online is $30 before 8/7. You will need to enter your pesticide applicator license number when you register if you need CEU's. Registration will be $40 at the door.

Checks will need to be made payable to: Grimes County Extension Agriculture Fund

Individuals with disabilities who require an auxiliary aid, service, or accommodations to participate in any Extension activities are encouraged to contact the County Extension Office at (936) 873-3907 by 8/7.

This event will take place Thursday, August 27 at the Brazos County Extension Office- 4153 County Park Court, Bryan, TX 77802
Registration will begin at 5:30 pm and the program will last from 6:00 pm- 8:30 pm.

Topics include New World Screwworm considerations and parasite control and management for sheep and goats.

Grimes County AgriLife Extension and Agrilife Extension MadisonCounty have partnered up to provide an educational program on feral hogs. This program will also offer three CEUs for private applicators.

This event will be held at the Grimes County Fairgrounds (Lions Club Hall) on Thursday, August 13.
