Makah traditionally prepare salmon using a split-cedar stick - wherein the salmon is placed in the split and then cross pieces of cedar are laced in to hold the salmon flat and for even cooking around an open fire. This time-honored manner of cooking has been taking place for many, many centuries and is proven to be the best way to enjoy freshly-caught salmon. 😋
