May 26, 2026

On May 24, 2026, at 2:00pm an Otoe County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in an injury crash at the intersection of County Road I and County Road 52. The deputy was traveling westbound on County Road I when the patrol car was struck by a northbound pickup, driven by an 89-year-old Nebraska City man.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries. The deputy was transported to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

The Nebraska State Patrol conducted the traffic investigation. The male driver was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

The chance of severe weather continues today, through Monday. Heavy rain and flooding is possible with these storms.

The Otoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating an injury crash that occurred on Highway 67, north of Talmage.

On May 13, 2026, at approximately 11:07pm, the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office, along with Talmage Fire and Rescue, responded to a one vehicle rollover injury crash north of Talmage on Highway 67, near County Road R.

Fire and Rescue personnel located Anthony Collins, 41 of Lincoln pinned in the pickup. Collins required extrication and was transported to a Lincoln hospital in serious condition.

As deputies were investigating the scene, deputies located Brent Schleicher, 44 of Lincoln had been ejected from the pickup. Schleicher was flown from the scene to a Lincoln hospital in serious condition.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling southbound on Highway 67 when it left the roadway, striking a utility power pole, then rolled several times.

The crash remains under investigation by the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office
