The Marion & Ed Hughes Public Library is dedicated to being an integral part of our community and to providing the highest quality and most relevant library services possible. This page was created by the staff of the Library to offer an online space for our patrons to connect with us and other library lovers in the community. The Hughes Public Library is a Department of the City of Neder

It might be back-to-school for the older kids, but you preschoolers and toddlers are welcome at the library any day. We even have a special time when you can come, have a few books read to you, and then do a craft afterward!

Once school is over, you can grab your parent and make sure you have permission slips signed (available in the meeting room on gaming days) for open gaming on Wednesdays!

Finally, enjoy the end of the week with some popcorn and watch The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Saturday.

Saddened this week by another iconic loss.

He might have given us nightmares as children, but he also gave us laughter. Did you know he was a voice actor, voicing Nigel Thornberry in The Wild Thornberrys and Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidious in Star Wars: The Clone Wars? Thank you, Tim Curry, for keeping us entertained.

We also have a library display honoring our favorite children's book philanthropist, cook, singer, and actor, Dolly Parton, who passed away yesterday. We have her cookbook, children's picture book, and movies ready for you.

Join us for Storytime every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 AM! Mr. Noah will read 2-3 themed children's books and help you create a fun themed craft to take home. We can't wait to see you and your little ones there!

We are still accepting arts and crafts donations for our next fill-a-bag sale!

The library will also accept, at any time of year, new or gently used:
- Books
- Textbooks
- Magazines
- DVDs
- Blu-rays
- Video Game
- Board games
- Legos/Duplos
- Flash drives (please clear them)
- Home-baked goods
- Office supplies
- Art & crafts items
- Puzzles (for the Puzzle Swap in the lobby)
- Donations to support our Monthly Programs and Summer Reading Program

We will not accept:
- VHS
- Clothes
- Items with mold or spiders
- Household items
- Items with mold or bugs (Yes, we needed to say that twice)

Well, if you have an adult library card, you can check out up to five movies for two nights.

We've added some new titles to the collection to check out or put on hold. You can also find many 2000-era favorites to revisit and enjoy.

Remember a time when you were sure you were going to be crafty like that person on {insert your choice of scrolling app}? So you bought all the supplies for {insert craft project idea here}, which now just sits there and silently judges you on your bookshelf, dinner table, or bedroom floor, still in the Amazon box...

Well, if you want to get rid of that bad juju, vibes, and clutter, we at the library will, with no judgment, take them off your hands.

Why?

We want to make little craft boxes for Craft Thursdays (a work in progress) so others can try out a hobby before committing, like you might have done.

Then, depending on how much junk, I mean supplies, we get, we will host a fill-a-bag event where others, and maybe even you, can see if there's anything you want to try without dropping some major moola.

In short,
1: Drop off all gently used art and craft supplies during the month of August.
2: In September, we will hold a fill-a-bag sale with the donated items to start raising money for library programs.
