Nedrow Volunteer Fire Department Inc. Proudly serving the Town of Onondaga by providing Fire & Rescue services to Nedrow and surrounding communities since 1949. The Nedrow Fire Department Inc.

is a completely volunteer organization that responds to emergencies day and night. We are a non-profit group that is contracted with the Town of Onondaga to provide fire and EMS services. We work closely with with our neighboring departments, specifically with the Onondaga Nation Volunteer Department, answering all of their calls as well as them answering all of ours. This insures that, regardless

the emergency, there is always enough qualified and experienced people to respond. We also work with our neighbors to the west, the South Onondaga fire Department and our neighbors to the east, the Sentinel Heights Fire Department. And because we work with the Onondaga Nation and Sentinel Heights Fire Departments, we respond to calls on I-81, to the north and south of exit 16.

Today, four of our members represented the Nedrow Fire Department at the annual Tunnel to Tunnel to Towers Foundation 5K in Utica.

For those unfamiliar, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation was born from the tragedy of 9/11 and continues its mission to “do good” by:
• Providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children.
• Building specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.
• Working tirelessly to eradicate veteran homelessness.
• Ensuring America never forgets September 11, 2001.

This year marks 25 years since 9/11, thank you to all of the runners that participated today.

Nedrow Fire was dispatched to a reported apartment fire in the Southwood Fire District. Car 3 and Engine 42 responded. On arrival, Engine 42’s crew pulled a handline to the apartment, checked for extension, and assisted with ventilation. Nedrow units cleared at 08:11hrs.

Engine 2 will be detailed out to McDonald’s until 0600pm. Come out and support the Jon Diaz Community Center Foundation

Nedrow Rescue was requested to the Jamesville Fire District to assist Jamesville and Southwood with an injured hiker on a trail. Car 1 w/ATV, Car 2, and Rescue 42 responded. On arrival, the Nedrow crew met with Command and brought equipment and manpower to the patient’s location with the ATV. The crew then assisted with patent care and carried the patient via stokes basket with the other crews, to Jamesville’s ATV. The crew then assisted with patient care until turning over the patient to AMR. Nedrow units cleared at 19:10hrs.

This call was a good example of 3 Southern Section Departments working together seamlessly that led to a successful outcome.

Nedrow Engine 93 responded to Route 20 and Ortloff Rd in the LaFayette Fire District for a reported MVC, dump truck rollover. Engine 93 arrived with Lafayette Tanker 11 and split its crew to evaluate 1 patient and address a punctured diesel tank. Nedrow units cleared at 14:03hrs.

Nedrow and Onondaga Nation members completed the second part of a two week EVOC course taught by Assistant Chief Horne tonight. This course is required for apparatus drivers to stay current and is also a first step for members interested in clearing on apparatus.

Nedrow Fire and Onondaga Nation Fire were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire in the area of the Nedrow/Nation Line at S Salina/Rt 11. Car 2, Rescue 42, and Onondaga Nation Tanker Pumper 1 responded. Units arrived to find a 98 vehicle, and extinguished it. Nedrow units cleared at 01:35 and turned the scene over to OCSO.
