Nedrow Volunteer Fire Department Inc. Proudly serving the Town of Onondaga by providing Fire & Rescue services to Nedrow and surrounding communities since 1949. The Nedrow Fire Department Inc.

is a completely volunteer organization that responds to emergencies day and night. We are a non-profit group that is contracted with the Town of Onondaga to provide fire and EMS services. We work closely with with our neighboring departments, specifically with the Onondaga Nation Volunteer Department, answering all of their calls as well as them answering all of ours. This insures that, regardless

the emergency, there is always enough qualified and experienced people to respond. We also work with our neighbors to the west, the South Onondaga fire Department and our neighbors to the east, the Sentinel Heights Fire Department. And because we work with the Onondaga Nation and Sentinel Heights Fire Departments, we respond to calls on I-81, to the north and south of exit 16.

Nedrow Fire was dispatched to a reported residential fire on Route 11A in the Onondaga Nation Fire District. C2, E2, TA1, and M1 responded. E2 arrived with Onondaga Nation TP1 and South Onondaga C1 to find a fire on the exterior of the residence. The fire was extinguished and held to a 98. Nedrow units cleared after approximately an hour and a half on scene.

Nedrow Fire was dispatched to 81 SB before the off-ramp for a reported tractor trailer fire. RP1 and TA1 responded. LaFayette Car 2 arrived finding a fire underneath the trailer. RP1 arrived and contained the fire before it spread to the rest of the trailer, which contained farm equipment. Units cleared after approximately 25 minutes on scene.

Tonight, Assistant Chief Horne led a hands-on training session covering pump operations, drafting, and tanker shuttle operations with department members. Crews worked through the process of establishing a water supply and effectively utilizing it in situations where hydrants are not available during fires.

It was a valuable training night with strong participation and engagement from everyone involved. Great job by all in attendance.

A huge thank you to the Nedrow Community Crew and the Nedrow Fire Department Auxiliary for organizing and hosting this year’s Earth Day Cleanup.

Despite the cool, rainy weather, it was great to see so many community members come out to lend a hand. Your efforts truly help make Nedrow a cleaner, better place for everyone.

The NFD would like to congratulate our three new graduates of the NYS Interior firefighting operations course!

Over the past 6 weeks, our three volunteers completed the 50 hours of mostly hands on skills and testing required to achieve their certifications. FF/EMT K. Oakes, FF D. Abdurakhmanov, FF J. Thousand have just a few in house steps left to be fully cleared interior firefighters. We’d also like to highlight FF. thousand on achieving a perfect 100% on his final exam!

The NFD would like to congratulate and highlight the commitment of FF/EMT K. Oakes, FF J. Thousand, and FF D. Abdurakhmanov on the completion of the NYS BEFO w/HMFRO course!

This course has taken 2-3 days a week over the past few months to complete. These members have also continued participation in department events and calls, and working their jobs/attending school.

All three will be attending IFO, with the goal of becoming interior qualified in the next few months. Good luck and thank you for all you do!

Over the past several years, many community members have asked about our fish dinners. We would like to share that these dinners were hosted and organized by our Auxiliary, and they were discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, the Nedrow Fire Department and our Auxiliary are no longer planning to resume the fish dinners.

We are very grateful for the many years of community support and for the hard work and dedication of our Auxiliary members who made these events such a success. The friendships, conversations, and generosity shown throughout the years will always be appreciated.
