What is SAMD?
Students Acting to Make a Difference (SAMD) is a student-led theater organization which donates proceeds from an October musical to a local charity, combining drama and impact. SAMD allows students at Needham High School to use their creative talents while learning about and directly supporting a nonprofit, inspiring them to channel their passion towards a greater cause. With a strict no-cuts policy, SAMD emphasizes community involvement and inclusion, with an unspoken motto of "no matter who you are, no matter your skill level, you can make a difference".

Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series This Weekend!

The opening act for An Evening with Lauren Ambrose are Needham High School’s Rocket Robins, under the direction of music teacher Dr. Jonathan VanderWoude. These talented singers – Katie Memory, Amelia Broderick, Sam Pomerantz, Bella Escovitz, Lucie Salerno, and Bella George – are members of the Needham High School chorus program and are very active in musical theatre. They will be performing “Mama Who Bore Me” from ‘Spring Awakening’ (A Capella) and “First Burn” from ‘Hamilton’ (accompanied by Logan Heath on piano keyboard). Pictured are the singers who were part of the NHS Chorale that opened last season’s concert with Seth Rudetsky & Andrea McArdle. Two of those members, now seniors, are part of the Rocket Robins.

Both season subscriptions and single-concert tickets can be purchased at https://tinyurl.com/LaurenAmbrose-RocketRobins .

For the past 13 years, the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series has become an integral part of our community’s spirit. Dedicated to supporting the excellent music programs in the Needham Public Schools, the concerts feature student musicians and makes an annual donation to the Needham Fine and Performing Arts Department . Starting this season, there will be a new fund for Master Classes with students and some visiting performers.
