Hiring a Contractor?
๐Ÿ’ก Some More Smart Ways to Stay Protected:
โœ… Contact your insurance company directly before hiring anyone.
โœ… Ask for referencesโ€”and call them.
โœ… Search their name + โ€œscamโ€ or โ€œcomplaintโ€ online.
โœ… Get everything in writing, including estimates and timelines.
โœ… Never pay in full upfront. A small deposit is standard; more than 50% is a red flag.

We know many residents are working through storm damage repairs, and we understand how stressful and frustrating the process can be.

If youโ€™re planning repairs or property updates, please consider calling City of Neenah Inspections before work begins to ask whether a permit is needed. Permits help ensure work is completed safely and can help protect residents from unsafe repairs or possible contractor scams.

Projects that may need a permit include things like fences, decks, sheds, garages, structural repairs, electrical work, plumbing work, furnace or A/C replacement, water heater replacement, foundation repairs, and additions. Permit fees will be waived for demolition of buildings, homes, garages and sheds that were damaged by the tornado.

Some cosmetic repairs, such as re-roofing, re-siding, or cabinet replacement, may not require a permit unless structural, electrical, or plumbing work is involved. Because every project is a little different, the easiest way to know is to ask.

Please call City of Neenah Inspections at 920-886-6130 with questions, email us at [email protected], or visit us at Neenah City Hall (211 Walnut St.). Weโ€™re here to help residents make safe repairs as our community recovers.

โ˜€๏ธ The summer heat is here! Is your A/C keeping up?

If your air conditioner hasn't had a little TLC lately, now's a great time to give it some attention. A few simple maintenance tasks can help it run more efficiently, lower energy costs, and keep your home comfortable.

โœ… Replace your air filter
โœ… Clear debris from around the outdoor unit
โœ… Check for unusual noises or leaks

A little maintenance now can help keep you cool all summer long!
