Sewer Project Update!

Hungerford Ave. paved, our project is almost complete. Check the new curbs, pavement, and sidewalks. New parking as well. The only thing you can't see is the new sewer.

Sewer Project Update!

Part of Ann Street was paved today thanks to the efforts of city staff to apply for grants*, reducing our local tax burden to residents. There's more to pave, but this will be for another day.

WOW!!! We are absolutely blown away by the incredible turnout and support at last night's Barks & Brews event. Together, we achieved and celebrated reaching our fundraising goal, and we definitely think a few shout outs are in order!!

A HUGE thank you to Upper Peninsula Brewing Company for collaborating with us and providing the perfect venue for an evening of music, comradery, and fundraising. A special thank you for choosing Iron Town Dog Park as your charitable donation after your well-deserved March Brewsanity win!

Another HUGE thank you to West End Revival for bringing the energy and providing fantastic live music throughout the event! Everyone NEEDS to check these guys out!!!

And, of course, this event would not have been possible without the generosity of our amazing sponsors and donors. Your contributions helped make Barks & Brews such a success:

The City of Negaunee announces that the Community Sensory Park Committee will reorganize its function after presenting its proposed sensory park project to the Negaunee City Council last year.

The committee was tasked in 2022 with researching sensory parks and its functions, which included reviewing the playground equipment located at the Ann Street Park and recommending appropriate sensory park replacements.

According to many child-developmental organizations the benefit of sensory play can help to build nerve connections in the brain, encourages the development of motor skills, supports language development, encourages 'scientific thinking' and problem solving, and involves mindful activities which are beneficial for all children.

The committee was invited by City Manager Nate Heffron to continue its efforts and transition into an advocacy and fundraising committee to help bring the proposed sensory park to completion. The committee will seek community partners and advocates to support its fundraising activities. Those interested in getting involved should contact committee chairperson Arica Altobello at [email protected] by September 30.

Questions concerning this release may be directed to the attention of the City Manager, Nate Heffron at (906) 475-7700 ext. 12.
