Nehalem Bay Fire & Rescue MISSION STATEMENT: “TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY OF THOSE WE SERVE.”

A long period swell will impact our waters starting Sunday May 24th through Tuesday May 26th. Sneaker waves can surprise beachgoers, running up on the beach significantly farther than other waves. They can also lift or roll large, heavy logs which can lead to serious injury or death.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is more than the start of summer, it is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who never made it home, and the families who continue to carry that loss.

From all of us at Nehalem Bay Fire & Rescue, we extend our gratitude to our fallen service members and to those who continue to serve. We hope everyone has a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

Today we’re proud to recognize one of our outstanding volunteers here at Nehalem Bay Fire & Rescue, Josh Hamilton.
Josh has consistently been one of our top responders, showing an exceptional level of dedication to serving our community. His commitment has not gone unnoticed, as he received the award for Firefighter of the Year in 2024. He serves as a firefighter, EMR, driver/operator, and is also certified as a Wildland Type 1 firefighter, bringing a wide range of skills to every call he responds to.
While working full-time outside of the fire service, Josh still makes the time to be an incredible team player on the volunteer side of our district. Behind that commitment is a strong, loving and supportive family, and we’re grateful for the role they play in allowing him to serve.
Josh’s work ethic, reliability, and dedication truly represent the best of Nehalem Bay Fire & Rescue. Thank you, Josh, for everything you do for our department and our community.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Nehalem Bay Fire & Rescue.

Today, we want to recognize and thank all of the mothers in our community, especially the moms who serve in emergency services and the mothers who support those who do. Behind every late-night call, missed holiday, training night, and emergency response is a family making sacrifices too.

We are grateful for the strength, care, and support that mothers bring to our families, our department, and our community every day. We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Mother’s Day.
