We had a great Saturday supporting small businesses right here in Cass County. 💛
First stop was The Bean Bank Coffee House (aptly named because it used to be a bank!). I highly recommend the Gold Bar iced latte. ☕️💯 The owners live and work right here in Cass County, and one also serves on the Nehawka Volunteer Fire Department.
Next, I picked up my absolute favorite loaf of sourdough—strawberry cream cheese—from Bert's Bread. 🍓🍞 The sweet baker has been best friends with my oldest daughter since preschool. Small-town connections for the win!
We also grabbed a salve from Fueled by Spirit for my dad to try on his radiation-fried neck. Another wonderful local business based in Union.
We spent the morning chatting with neighbors, visiting vendors, and celebrating the hardworking people who make our communities special. My dad and youngest daughter were on gummy bear duty, which is a very serious responsibility. 😂
After all the sweet treats, we headed to Plattsmouth for the Steampunk Festival.
What a fun and unique event! We watched a tea duel, learned what a penny-farthing bicycle is, admired some incredible costumes, and met a few furry friends along the way.
One of those furry friends, Ginger, was an adoptable dog from a local rescue group, Happy Paws Plattsmouth. If you’re looking to add a four-legged family member, be sure to check them out. 3 of our fur babies came from their care. ❤️🐾
Days like today are a great reminder that there is always something happening in Cass County—and always good people behind it.
