A family traveling through Antelope County today lost an iron frame and four bicycles that fell off their camper, and they're counting on the community's kindness to help bring them home. The items were last seen near the intersection of 842 and 513 Avenue. If you have any information that can help reunite this family with their belongings, please get in touch with us.

**Effective September 3, 2025**

Nebraska's Updated Move-Over Law (LB 530)

Previously, the move-over law applied only to emergency and roadside assistance vehicles on controlled-access highways.
Now, on these highways, drivers must move over when approaching all stopped vehicles on the same side of the highway. If it is not possible to move into the next lane, drivers must slow down to a safe speed and proceed with caution, or as directed by authorized personnel. These requirements do not apply if the stopped vehicle is unoccupied and there are no individuals present in or near the vehicle.
In addition, the updated law requires drivers to move over when approaching or passing vulnerable road users (VRUs) on all highways. VRUs include:
-Pedestrians
- Construction and maintenance crews
- Bicyclists
- People in crosswalks
- Agricultural vehicles or equipment
- Other types identified in Section 25 of LB 530

*If there are not two adjacent lanes going in the same direction or if drivers are unable to move over, they must slow down and drive with caution.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Ralph Black during this difficult time. Ralph dedicated 11 years (1990 - 2001) to serving as the Sheriff of Antelope County, and his unwavering commitment to our community will forever be remembered. May the joyful memories you shared with him provide you comfort and support as you navigate this profound loss. Our hearts and thoughts are with you. With sincere sympathy, the Antelope County Sheriff’s Office.

Our hearts at the Antelope County Sheriff's Office are heavy as we extend our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters at the Holt County Sheriff's Office in the wake of the tragic loss of Deputy Steven Binkerd. The grief we feel during this time is profound, and words can't fully convey the depth of our sorrow.
We often teased Steven about his Sherlock Holmes approach to investigations, but those jests were sincere tribute to his extraordinary skills and dedication to investigating and solving crimes. We mourn a remarkable investigator, a beloved brother in Christ, and a dear friend. Our memories of him will forever be cherished.
In this time of sorrow, we hold onto Jesus' words: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons and daughters of God." With heavy hearts, we stand together in solidarity.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all those who knew and loved him.

With deepest sympathy,
Antelope County Sheriff's Office
