Nelson County continues to invest in a cleaner, more sustainable future through recycling and solid waste improvements across our community.

Over the last three years, Nelson County has received an incredible $553,130.20 in recycling grants to strengthen and expand our recycling operations:

♻️ 2024 – Awarded $241,236.00 for 12 recycling trailers now placed throughout Nelson County, making recycling more convenient and accessible for our residents.

♻️ 2025 – Awarded $76,437.00 for a new skid steer to assist with daily recycling operations and improve efficiency at our recycling facilities.

♻️ 2026 – Awarded $235,460.20 for a new baler, retaining wall blocks, and sorting cages to further improve the county’s recycling capabilities and long-term operations.

These investments help keep recyclable materials out of our landfills, reduce waste, protect our environment, and improve the quality of life for future generations in Nelson County. Recycling is not only good for the environment, it is good for our county, our communities, and our taxpayers.

A special thank you to Troy Kok, Meade County Judge Executive for their assistance in helping secure the 2026 grant award for Nelson County and four other counties. Strong working relationships and regional cooperation make a real difference, and we are grateful for partnerships that help move our communities forward together.

One of the greatest investments we can make is in the young people of our community. This drug-free awareness video is a reflection of Fiscal Court’s commitment to supporting our youth and promoting positive messages that matter.

Seniors from all four local high schools came together for this project with one shared goal: to encourage others and make a lasting impact in our community.

A special thank you to Flaget Memorial Hospital and the Green Dot Program for partnering with the Nelson County Fiscal Court on this great project and the upcoming Battle of the Schools.

Be sure to watch the video and see some familiar faces helping lead the way toward a brighter future.
