City of Bardstown and Nelson County Fiscal Court Announce Joint Purchase of 527 Acres for Future Industrial Park Development
The City of Bardstown and Nelson County Fiscal Court are pleased to announce the joint acquisition of 527 acres located off Pennebaker Avenue for the future development of a new industrial park. The property was purchased through a 50/50 partnership between the City and County following months of planning and collaboration focused on creating new opportunities for economic growth in Nelson County. The Bardstown Industrial Development Corporation (BIDC) will administer the property.
This acquisition represents a significant investment in the future of Nelson County and reflects a shared commitment to creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and ensuring future generations have opportunities to live, work, and raise their families in the community they call home.
The new industrial park will provide valuable space for business recruitment and expansion, helping attract new employers while supporting the growth of existing industries. The development of the site is expected to create quality jobs, strengthen the local economy, and expand the county's tax base for years to come.
With more than 527 acres available for development, the property also provides tremendous potential for long-term growth. The size and location of the site allow flexibility for future expansion, including the possibility of acquiring additional acreage if future economic development opportunities warrant further growth.
Beyond its economic development potential, the acquisition also preserves opportunities for future infrastructure improvements. Community leaders have long recognized the potential benefits of a future bypass connection between Louisville Road and Bloomfield Road. While no specific plans have been finalized, preserving land that could support future transportation improvements helps position the community to address traffic concerns and accommodate continued growth in the years ahead.
The City of Bardstown and Nelson County Fiscal Court also wish to address recent speculation circulating on social media regarding the property. There have been no discussions regarding the development of a data center on this site, and no such proposal has been presented or considered. Any claims suggesting otherwise are inaccurate.
This investment demonstrates the commitment of both local governments to proactive planning and responsible growth.
