The City of Nelson proudly honors a true Hollywood legend and one of our most famous sons - Claude Akins! Though his family moved to Indiana when his father took a position with a local marble company, Claude never forgot his deep roots in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. We're excited to present a special commemorative graphic to mark his birthday on May 25th and highlight his incredible legacy!

A Glimpse into His Storied Career:

⭐ Silver Screen Debut: Launched his prolific film career in the classic "From Here to Eternity".

⭐ Hollywood Stalwart: In a remarkable career spanning four decades, he starred in over 100 movies and made 180 television appearances.

⭐ Fan Favorites: Best known for defining roles in hit series like Movin' On and starring as the unforgettable Sheriff Lobo.

Beyond this tribute graphic, we invite you to see a piece of real Nelson history. Visit the City Hall Museum to view the actual autographed photo, featuring a personalized note Claude penned while filming "Moving On" in Gainesville!
