Summer has officially started, and with it, some projects that we have hit the ground running.
-Sawmill work has begun to produce lumber for Tribal Members, decking for our housing units, and to build a frame for our new equipment/service garage. If you are a Tribal Member and are interested in how to operate an industrial sawmill, come say hello to the sawyers on site. As a part of their milling proposal, they will offer this training at no cost to those interested, just come to the Tribal Office to sign up, bring gloves and safety glasses! This will be going on for the next three weeks or until we run out of logs.
-New Tribal Hall Playground, we are establishing the foundation area now. This would be a good time for any day laborers to be made readily available when hands on deck are needed. To sign up as a day laborer, swing by the office and fill out an application.
-Summer Youth Workers, reach out to [email protected] or swing by and fill out an application. We are also trying to get as many vendors that might be interested to sign up as a recipient before June 1st. We have some returning vendors from last year but are always looking for more slots for our youth to pick from.
-New equipment/service garage work will begin soon, our goal is to have a slab and frame closed in before fall so we have a nice warm home for our newer equipment next winter.
- Transfer Site, it has been one of the Tribe's goals to have an operating transfer site for the community to use. We are nearly there in policy and organization, then we will bring it to the community.
- TCC Positions:
-We are still in need of a TFYS worker. We are looking for someone that may have some experience in social work, but more importantly, someone that is willing to advocate for the Tribal Community, learn to love and support the families here, and to seek and invest long-term employment in providing this service. You can apply at the TCC website, https://www.tananachiefs.org/careers/
The NNA Tribal Office will be providing updates more often moving forward, to let the Tribal Members and community know of the exciting things that we are working on. If you are a Tribal Member and would like to propose a project that could benefit the community, please reach out to Tribal Administrator JT Baker at [email protected].
