Long afternoon, evening for your Anthony Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue members. We started our Easter with a phone mayday indicating a possible plane crash... Thankfully, it was a false alarm and a child on the phone. Shortly after clearing from that call, we were asked to assist the White Sulphur Springs Fire department for a large Brush fire off Slash Lick rd. Little did we know that this would turn into a 9 hr event for our members. This was a fire that needed watching from Slash lick, all the way up to Whites Draft. Yes, there is a lot of smoke on and around route 92. Yes, there are National Forestry units still fighting fire. No, this was not anything criminal (was actually the prescribed burn that the National Forestry started and got out of their control). A very SPECIAL thank you to "Remember When country store" and the Scott family. They opened the store for our department to get much needed fuel for the trucks and our members. Everything was closed for the holiday and they were there in the store in 10 mins making the most delicious brisket and philly cheese steak meals for our crews. Again, we cannot be more blessed and thankful for our little community and our small businesses.
