During EMS Week, we proudly recognize the members of the Nesconset Fire Department who answer thousands of EMS alarms each year.

Our crews continue to train, learn, and prepare so we can deliver the highest level of care when our community needs us most. From the first call to the final handoff, their dedication and professionalism make a difference every day.

Thank you to all EMS providers—past and present—for your commitment to serving Nesconset and surrounding communities.

Last night, the Smithtown Department of Public Safety Fire Marshal’s Office responded to assist the Nesconset Fire Department with a leaking propane tank.

Working alongside firefighters, Fire Marshals safely relocated the leaking tank to an area in which the product in the tank could be safely “burned off” the remaining Liquefied Petroleum Gas.

Great job by all!

Thank you to Smithtown Department of Public Safety for assisting with our propane emergency yesterday!

At 7:46pm this evening the Nesconset Fire Department was activated for a residential structure fire on Eklund Boulevard. Initial arriving Chiefs encountered a smoke condition in the basement and started an investigation to locate the source.

Firefighters from Engine 4-4-1 stretched a precautionary hose line while working with firefighters from Ronkonkoma Engine 5-24-6 to locate the fire. Additional firefighters from Smithtown Engine 4-2-3, Lakeland Ladder 3-13-3, St. James Ladder 4-3-7 and Nesconset Heavy Rescue 4-4-9 worked together to locate the source of the smoke which was a small fire located in the building spaces within the floor and walls. EMS personnel from First Responder 4-4-80 and Ambulance 4-4-6A evaluated a civilian on scene. All units operated under the command of Chief Chris Zarnitz and were released from the scene at 9:27pm. Fire Marshals from Smithtown Department of Public Safety remained on scene to investigate the cause of the fire.

Not only to the Moms serving in the Department, but we would be remiss if we didn’t also wish a Happy Mother’s Day to our mothers who taught us the compassion and strength we need to do our jobs.
