The Nesquehoning Police Department is proud to announce the successful outcome of a joint investigation conducted in partnership with the Lehighton Police Department and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.

As a result of this collaborative effort, law enforcement officers arrested suspects and seized 1,057 bags of fentanyl before the deadly narcotics could be distributed within our communities.

This case highlights the importance of cooperation between local and state law enforcement agencies in combating the ongoing opioid epidemic. Every quantity of fentanyl removed from our streets has the potential to save lives and make our communities safer.

The Nesquehoning Police Department would like to thank the Lehighton Police Department and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General for their professionalism, dedication, and continued partnership throughout this investigation.

We remain committed to aggressively investigating drug-related offenses and encourage anyone with information regarding illegal drug activity to contact the Nesquehoning Police Department. Working together, we can continue to keep our communities safe.

As America’s 250th and Nesquehoning’s 202nd Anniversary comes to a close, the Nesquehoning Police Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to everyone who helped make this historic event a success.

Events of this size take an incredible amount of planning, coordination, and teamwork, and none of it would have been possible without the dedication, support, and partnership of so many individuals and organizations.

A special thank you to Carbon County EMA, Reading & Northern Railroad, Union Pacific Railroad, Carbon County DA’s Office, Carbon County Sheriff’s Department, Jim Thorpe Borough and Police Department, Nesquehoning Borough Streets and Water/Sewer Departments, Nesquehoning Council, Nesquehoning, New Columbus and Hauto Fire Companies, Kovatch Inc., Narrow Valley Sportsplex, Nesquehoning Historical Society, Nesquehoning Recreation Center, Fire Police from all over Carbon County, and Lehighton Ambulance.

To our residents, visitors, volunteers, emergency personnel, and all who came out to celebrate with us, thank you for your patience, cooperation, and community spirit throughout the event.

This weekend showcased what makes Nesquehoning special when organizations come together to safely celebrate our nation’s history and our borough’s proud heritage.

-On Saturday June 13, The Union Pacific “Big Boy” Train will be arriving at 6pm in Nesquehoning!

-Also on Saturday June 13, Nesquehoning’s 202nd Anniversary and America’s 250th Celebration.

-Community parade to start at 10am.
-Festival at the Kovatch parking lot next to the Recreation Center at 12pm.
-Fireworks at 9pm.

⛔️ The following streets south of Catawissa will be closed during the parade. (Pine, Oak, Chestnut, Hazard, Almond, Mermon Avenue, School, Ratcliff, and Allen)⛔️

🚧 Please follow the upcoming “no parking” signs from 7am-12pm on Center and Railroad Streets to avoid your vehicle being ticketed and/or towed. Parking will resume once the parade is complete. 🚧

⛔️ Coal Street, Mill Street, and Paradise Lane will be closed except for local traffic. ⛔️

🅿️ Additional parking is available at CVS, Panther Valley High School, and Middle School with shuttle services. 🚌

-On Sunday June 14, The Union Pacific “Big Boy” Train will be departing at 10am.

-Moving vehicles off the street during sweeping times.
-Following any posted parking restrictions.
-Allowing crews to safely and efficiently complete their work.

Officer Herring from the Nesquehoning Police Department was honored to participate in a roundtable discussion addressing the ongoing fentanyl crisis alongside Senator Dave McCormick and FBI Director Kash Patel.

This important conversation brought together law enforcement and federal leadership to share insights, challenges, and strategies aimed at combating the devastating impact of fentanyl in our communities. Collaboration at all levels is critical as we continue working to protect our residents and save lives.
