Tonight, personnel from the Nesquehoning Hose Co. #1, New Columbus Fire Department, and Hauto Fire Company conducted a joint training exercise at an acquired structure.

Firefighters were tasked with navigating the building to perform multi-floor search and rescue operations and locate simulated victims.

Training events like these highlight the ongoing collaborative efforts of our local departments, ensuring seamless teamwork and a more unified response during real-world emergencies.

The members of the Nesquehoning Hose Company extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the members of the Jim Thorpe Fire Department, Diligent Fire Company #3, and especially the family of Vince Yaich Sr.

Vince dedicated more than half of his life to serving his community through the fire service in Jim Thorpe, always answering the call with pride, strength, and compassion. In addition to his years of service as a firefighter, he faithfully served 35 years as a DCNR Forest Fire Warden with the Weiser Forest District, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and selflessness that will never be forgotten.

During this incredibly difficult time, we ask everyone to keep the Yaich family, along with the members of Diligent Fire Company #3, in your thoughts and prayers. Vince’s impact on the fire service and the community will forever be remembered.
