Join the Nevada County Elections Office for a Random Alphabet Draw at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, to see how the ballot order is determined for some candidates in the Nov. 3, 2026 General Election.

Among the topics we covered were the importance of mailing your ballots early or using our official drop boxes. We also discussed maintenance of the voter rolls, signature verification, changing election legislation and more.

If an incumbent fails to file for office by 5 p.m. Aug. 7, a five-calendar day extension period begins during which any qualified person other than the incumbent may file. The deadline for the extension period is 5 p.m. Aug. 12.

The argument for Local Measure M, submitted by the Pleasant Ridge Union School District for the Nov. 3, 2026 General Election, is now available for public review.

State law requires the argument to be available for 10 calendar days, through Aug. 6. It may be viewed at the Nevada County Elections Office, 950 Maidu Ave., Nevada City.

Registrar of Voters Armando Salud-Ambriz has certified the results of the June 2, 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election.

The final turnout for this election totaled 43,469 ballots cast, representing 57.2% of 76,204 registered voters in Nevada County. We are once again ranked among the top five California counties for voter turnout.
