Be careful out there.

The South Yuba River is running HIGH, FAST, and ICE-COLD from snowmelt right now. Conditions are extremely dangerous. Just this Monday, there was a helicopter rescue at the Highway 49 crossing.

Please help prevent another tragedy by spreading the word and using caution if you visit the river.

If you head to the river:
* Cell service is limited or unavailable
* Emergency response can take 15–45 minutes
* Emergency call boxes are located at:
* Purdon Crossing
* Edwards Crossing
* Hwy 49 Bridge
• Maybert Rd Bridge
• Bridgeport State Park

Please park legally — emergency vehicles need access at all times.

Today’s the day!

Join United Way of Nevada County and Gold Country Senior Services for a Buddy Evacuation Team (BET) presentation this afternoon at the Sierra Gold Community Senior Center from 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM.

We’ll be covering:
• How the BET program works
• Personal evacuation planning
• Emergency alerts and readiness resources
• Ways to help neighbors and stay connected during emergencies

This is a great opportunity to learn practical preparedness skills and hear how our community-based Buddy Evacuation Team program is helping Nevada County residents stay safer and more connected during wildfire and emergency situations.
