The South Yuba River Corridor Burn Ban is now in effect for fire season. All outdoor burning on private property is prohibited within the lower 39-mile stretch of the South Yuba River corridor, from Lang Crossing to Kentucky Creek below Bridgeport, within a quarter mile of the river on both sides. Open campfires on public lands are not allowed anywhere within the corridor year-round.

If you're visiting the river this summer:
• Campfires and BBQs are illegal in the South Yuba River corridor during fire season, except as allowed under the ordinance.
• Cell service is extremely limited to non-existent. Emergency call boxes are located at Bridgeport, Purdon, Maybert Road, Edwards, and Highway 49 river crossings.
• Parking is extremely limited. Please park only in designated areas to ensure emergency vehicles can access the corridor during a fire or other emergency.

An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through 11 pm tonight as hot and dry weather persist. Take steps to protect yourself and our community:
• Stay hydrated and check on friends, family, and neighbors
• Never leave children or pets in a parked car
• Help prevent wildfires by avoiding activities that create sparks
• Do not use power equipment during the hottest part of the day or in dry, windy conditions
• Practice safe towing and secure all chains. Dragging chains can throw sparks and ignite roadside vegetation.
• Park vehicles far away from dry grass.
