This project was created under the guidance of the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), Nevada City’s Strategic Plan and a registered professional forester.

As we transition into the height of fire season, our crew is adapting their treatment while still getting the work done.

Nevada City/ Nevada County is classified as a VERY HIGH Fire Severity Zone and by supporting Measure C - Wildfire Prevention Tax, you are having a hand in making Nevada City Safer From Wildfire.

Elevated fire weather conditions this week. Help prevent wildfires by avoiding activities that could cause a spark:
• Avoid using power equipment that creates sparks including Lawn Mowers.
• Never park on dry grass.
• Make sure trailer chains are secured and do not drag.

Smoke from wildfires outside our region may drift into Nevada County, creating hazy conditions and periods of reduced air quality.

Residents sensitive to smoke should take steps to reduce exposure:
• Limit outdoor exertion.
• Keep doors and windows closed.
• Set air conditioning systems in homes and vehicles to recirculate.
• Use a MERV 13 or higher filter in your HVAC system if possible, or use a portable HEPA air filter.

Children, older adults, pregnant people and those with chronic heart or respiratory conditions may be more sensitive to smoke.

🗺️ Nevada City Limits Evacuation Maps Are Available!

Nevada City’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) has partnered with Neighbor to Neighbor, a program of the California Volunteers Office of the Governor, to develop evacuation maps for Nevada City.

Maps were created following guidance from our trusted first responders, feedback from the community, and crafted by a consultant: Design for Emergency Management (DEM).

These maps show evacuation zones, routes, critical steps to take during an evacuation and helpful planning/preparedness information.
