Rural Fire Membership

If you have not renewed your rural fire membership with the city they begin the cancellation process in August. If you wish to pay for rural fire coverage you can apply and pay at city hall. If you have questions about rural fire coverage call the fire station, 417-448-5105

Rural fire coverage covers 42 square miles from Lady Rd south to Rebel Rd, and 1200 Rd east 1900 Rd.

Smoke detectors alert family to house on fire

Early Tuesday morning, just after 4:00 AM, your firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the 900 block of West Floral. B-Shift responded with a crew of four personnel on Engine 219, arriving within six minutes of being dispatched, to find smoke showing and reports of trapped animals.

Crews successfully entered the residence, extinguished the fire, and rescued three pets. While the fire was contained to the area of origin, the entire home sustained heavy smoke damage. Fortunately, the occupants were alerted by working smoke detectors and were able to escape safely.

Thanks to Milo, Compton Junction, and Deerfield Fire Departments for their assistance, as well as VCAD and the NPD for their support on the scene.

This is the second time in 2 months that working smoke detectors alerted sleeping occupants!
