Sunday at Shipley

We're hosting a community focused event at the former Shipley school - located at 25922 595 Ave, in Nevada. The building itself is 110 years old this year.

This event is centered around celebrating and sharing the history of our community, especially with many local families and generations who either attended school there or had relatives who did.
Because Memorial Day weekend often brings visitors back to town, we thought this could be a meaningful opportunity for both locals and out-of-town guests to reconnect with a piece of the community's history. We believe it would be a great fit for those who seem to enjoy local heritage, community events, and historic preservation.

Our social-pop series, lovingly called Sunday at Shipley, is being offered as a free-will donation basis so that it remains accessible (and family-friendly).

This event will feature a free-will donation iced coffee bar (and hot coffee as well) along with mingling and seeing the work we've done so far. Funds raised will be dedicated towards future improvements of the building so it can be enjoyed for many more years to come.

a quaint, social pop-up.

There's so much I could say. And I want to be true with my words because it's not always sunshine and blue skies.

Thank you to each and every one of you who supports us.
Thank you to everyone who showed up yesterday. Your presence meant more than I can even put into words.
Thank you to those who couldn't be there but still choose to support us from afar. Your effort is never lost on me.
Thank you to the ones who send a quick text just to say you're rooting for us. These feel like they come right when I need them the most.
Thank you to the people who have mentioned us in conversations with respect, passed our name along, or opened a door for us to an opportunity.
And thank you to the people who believe in what we're building.
Even now - while projects are still happening, not fully finished because we have to move on to the next thing, or something ages over time and now needs replaced.

This is the reality of renovation work on a property that is 16,000 square feet and 110 years old. It takes years, time, dedication, and alot of resources. Something like this doesn't get built overnight. We've learned along the way with every 3 steps forward, something pushes us a step back. Unknowns, unexpected things show up. That is the reality of doing the work ourselves on a building that has been standing this long.

We know what we signed up for. We lovingly bought a building that needed work. We chose a space that wasn't ready yet, but we have the vision and see it coming. We believe in keeping this beautiful building standing for many more years, because there is far too much to be lost if it faces the alternative.

This building isn't about our small family of 5 trying to build a business. This so much more. This is community roots. Where we came from, where generations of families went to school, where locals made a career for themselves, where memories were formed and children raised. Where we're going to keep showing up and working. One step at a time. Because of you and your support, we get to keep going.

The heart behind Sunday at Shipley, because it's so much more that just a phrase (and a few photos to show you my core memories of what started it all).

When we first bought Shipley, I frequently shared our progress and work - talking about the moments I enjoyed sushi on Sundays with my family while we worked on projects. Throughout the years, we've enjoyed time with friends - whether it's cleaning up after events or working on our long list of projects together, thankful for them. I regularly shared photos of yard work and reno work telling my friends 'sunday at shipley' and they always knew where to find us.

Since owning the property - I've been lucky to say that I've had the opportunity to meet one of favorite people (she's my favorite for so many reasons). All of these pieces fell into place and my dear friend and I to coined this phrase 'Sunday at Shipley' for one of our markets together, and I will honor our time together knowing this moment brought it to life.

My hope is to carry on the special moments behind Sundays at Shipley. The moments where friends have spent late nights because we show up to support each other. The story telling from past Shipley supporters, knowing that every memory spoken out loud is documentation of our past. The laughs from gathering with family because no matter where we are, together is still home.
Sunday at Shipley will be a small, pop-up social - created as time allows with a focus on real connections built with thought to create a lasting foundation and rooted in community.
