Red Flag Warning for Hubbard County!

5/14/26
Hubbard County is now designated in a Red Flag Warning.
High winds and low relative humidity have created very high fire danger.

Please be very careful.
We serve 130 square miles. We are expected to have wind gusts in the 30-40 mph range.
Any fires will spread extremely quickly.
If you have any fire pits that are even weeks old, please consider using water on those.
Avoid cutting wood with chainsaws if you can. Dull chains create heat. The wood and wood chips are fuel, and the wind brings plenty of oxygen and energy.

Very dangerous fire conditions will exist.
Please be extremely cautious with any open flames, chains dragging on trailers, or anything at all that could start a fire.
Please check any recreational fires from the last week to ensure any coals are completely extinguished as high winds can expose sparks.

👏Big thanks and congratulations to our Firefighter of the Year Ryan Mathisrud for his dedication to our department and community; he responded to 107 calls in 2025!
👏Thank you to each of our members for their selflessness and commitment this last year.
💫 It was a great evening of socializing, and we always enjoy hearing fire stories of the past from our retired members. This decades old Nevis Fire hat from retired firefighter Chuck Durham was traded in for a new model!
🚒 We’ve been proudly serving our Nevis community for 80 years, and we’re committed to many more years of continued service.

2025 Nevis Fire Department Rib Competition. We had 20 teams this year! We sold 330 racks to the stellar crowd that showed up and raised $5,520 for our beloved fire department! This was our 5th year of collaborating with the Nevis municipality while also teaming up with the fire department to make this event awesome. Can’t wait for next year!
Shout out to Big Racks BBQ on 1st place 🥇 in the rib competition and Tin Donkey BBQ for their 1st place in side meat 🍖 Maple chili pork belly for the win! 🥇

Water Wars is happening again this year at Muskie Days—July 19th at 1pm. We hope to see you there! Teams of 4-6, ages 12 and up. Each team must have at least 1 adult 18+. Sign up at the muni in person or message us here on Facebook and we will get your team signed up.
