Keep New Albany Clean and Green is a new initiative to beautify our community, and wants to implement the following programs:

Green Space-
Project Green Space plans to take small parcels of city-owned property and partner with businesses or other agencies to get plant material donated and keep the newly-landscaped area maintained. Studies show that green oasis’s such as these build civic pride a

nd inspire neighbors to keep the area looking its best. Neighborhood Naturescapes-
NA Clean & Green strives to find ways for all New Albany residents to become engaged in keeping our community clean and green. NatureScape Grants are designed to help neighborhood groups and other non-profits keep the public spaces of the community looking its best. Clean & Green Beautiful Business-
A Clean & Green Beautiful Business is dedicated to maintaining a positive image in the community and a clean and environmentaly friendly curb appeal. Each participating business will receive a decal indicating that they care about the community and environment. Annual awards will be presented to exemplary Clean & Green Beautiful Businesses. Interstate Daffodil & Wildflower Program-
NA Clean & Green plans to plant daffodil bulbs along the roadsides where highways intersect our community. Contributions of large and small dollar amounts would provide another burst of color and add beauty to our community. Community Gardens-
The Floyd County Cooperative Extension Service manages the community garden program. They provide educational services and horticultural strategies that could improve your garden. They can answer your gardening questions and are planning to host several gardening classes throughout the year. Community of Trees-
Community of Trees works with the New Albany Tree Board to proliferate and preserve trees as well as establish a group of citizens who value trees as a community asset. Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County Eco-Drama: InterAct with your environment -
Eco-Drama, free of charge to all Floyd County third grade classrooms funded by a grant from the Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County, is an environmental education program coordinated in partnership with Stage One. Eco-DRAMA provides students and educators with an active approach to exploring environmental issues with drama-based instructional strategies. Students explore environmental issues such as recycling, litter, clean water and energy awareness. Environmental Youth Summit-
NA Clean & Green’s Environmental Youth Summit, held in the spring and fall of each year, is a day-long, interactive workshop for students in grades 4-12. Students from throughout Floyd County join together and rally around a state education initiative. Students engage in hands-on environmental activities in eight key areas: energy, green spaces, transportation, resource management, hazardous chemicals, indoor air quality, storm water and climate change. Organize a Cleanup-
NA Clean & Green organizes several large-scale cleanups for New Albany throughout the year. However, you don't have to wait for NA Clean & Green to announce the next Community-Wide Cleanup to do your part towards having a litter-free city. Any group which would like to have a cleanup can be provided gloves, trash bags and a limited quantity of brooms, rakes, shovels at no cost. Simply pick a day and a place, round up a few people and get to work! Litter-Free Events-
Make your event litter-free! NA Clean & Green will be glad to coordinate your Litter-Free Event with Floyd County Solid Waste Management. NA Clean & Green will also provide bags and gloves to your volunteers that clean up after the event. We do request that you dispose of your recyclables, but Floyd County Solid Waste will pick up your bagged trash containers. Adopt-a-Mile Program-
Comparable to the state's Adopt-a-Highway program, Adopt-a-Mile allows groups to adopt a metro roadway. To recognize your cleanup efforts, NA Clean & Green will install a sign on the road indicating that this NA Clean & Green Adopt-a-Mile is clean, thanks to your organization! Adopt-a-Block-
Schools are invited to Adopt-a-Block and agree to maintain that block with regularly scheduled cleanups. Anti-Litter Campaign-
NA Clean & Green is striving to make our hometown a litter free community. Pitch your trash, no fouls or misses, just TAKE IT TO THE BASKET! We want to reduce litter to make our streets cleaner and safer for our citizens and visitors. Help us pass the word and the initiative to TAKE IT TO THE BASKET.

A Spring Planting and Beautification Day is Saturday, April 4th, beginning at 9:00 AM. Meet at Scribner Gardens across from the Y. A great volunteer activity for our community. We are counting on the rain holding off for this event! Scribner Gardens will also be a site for planting and beautification!

Join us and help bring books to life with our Book Gardens! This Thursday, April 25th at 3 PM, we will be planting our book-inspired gardens by the Library's main parking lot, as part of Keep New Albany Clean and Green.

All plants and planting supplies will be provided. All volunteers are welcome. Just drop by!

Thank you to Sunnyside Master Gardeners and Purdue Extension Floyd County for making this event possible.

We need volunteers to help with our partnership with the NA-FC Library for a Spring planting event on Thursday, April 25th, 3-6:00 PM. Planting will be done in the Literary Gardens at the Library as well as Scribner Gardens. Pass the word and join us if you can. Please message us if you are able to volunteer. It is time to volunteer to help beautify our community! The annual spring Beautification day is Saturday, March 9th, 9 AM to 12 PM.. All volunteers are greatly appreciated. Meet in Scribner Gardens across from the YMCA in New Albany. Our work will include planting flowers in the various planters around town, trimming bushes and grasses in Scribner gardens, planting flowers In the Underground Railroad gardens behind the Town Clock Church, as well as cleaning up and trimming bushes at the city welcome signs and public art pieces that were put in place by Keep New Albany Clean and Green. If you are able to help, please message us so we know how many volunteers to plan for. Bring a pair of gloves and a planting trowel if you would.
