Dolly Parton's Imagination Library helps young children build home libraries and early reading routines before they begin school.

Families never receive a bill for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library books.

Each enrolled child receives a free, age-appropriate book in the mail every month from birth to age 5 because this program is supported by partners who believe early literacy is worth investing in.

Here in Floyd County, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is powered locally by the NAFC Education Foundation, with support from community partners, donors, and Friends of the Foundation.

Together, we are helping young children build home libraries, develop early reading habits, and arrive at kindergarten with more opportunities to learn and grow.

When our community invests in early literacy, Floyd County children benefit.

This is wonderful news for Floyd County students. Thank you, Floyd County Legacy Foundation, for supporting the work of Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County and helping feed kids in our community.

We are awed and honored by the generosity of the Floyd County Legacy Foundation and their grant of $35,000 to Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County. They recognize that feeding kids today not only helps support those kids’ health and education today, but also is an investment in the future of our community.

A book in the mailbox is a wonderful start. What happens next matters, too.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library helps children build home libraries one book at a time, but the real magic happens when a parent, grandparent, babysitter, or caregiver sits down and reads with them.

Reading together, asking questions, pointing out letters, talking about the pictures, and rereading favorite stories all help children build early literacy skills before they begin school.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library also offers free parent resources to help families make the most of each book, including reading tips, activity sheets, book guides, tip cards, bilingual FAQs, and ideas inside the books.

Big news for Indiana families! Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is now available in all 92 Indiana counties, giving every child under age 5 the opportunity to receive free books mailed directly to their home.

Here in Floyd County, this work is powered locally by the NAFC Education Foundation and made possible through community support.

Since launching in Floyd County, the program has served more than 20,000 children and mailed more than 675,000 books to help build home libraries before children even begin school.

Each book delivered is another chance for a child to hear a story, learn new words, and develop a love of reading from the very beginning.

Great Classroom Grants in action at Grant Line Elementary!

Thanks to support from the New Albany-Floyd County Education Foundation, the Grant Line library was able to add hands-on STEM activity packs for students across multiple grade levels.

We love seeing the library become an even more interactive space for creativity, critical thinking, and exploration.
