Floyd County Fire Territory Announces Hiring of Deputy Chief of EMS and Addition of EMS Service
Floyd County, IN – The Floyd County Fire Territory (FCFT) is proud to announce the hiring of Jeff Dickson as the department’s new Deputy Chief of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). This strategic addition reflects FCFT’s continued commitment to strengthening emergency response capabilities and enhancing service delivery across Floyd County.
Deputy Chief Dickson brings extensive experience in emergency medical services leadership, operations, and system development. In this role, he will oversee all EMS operations, including program development, personnel training, quality assurance, and system implementation as FCFT prepares for an expanded role in countywide EMS service.
Beginning January 1, 2027, the Floyd County Fire Territory will serve as the sole EMS provider through the deployment of its fire-based EMS system across all of Floyd County, excluding the City of New Albany, which operates as a separate governmental entity. This transition represents a significant step forward in establishing a more unified, efficient, and responsive EMS system for the residents of Floyd County.
“This is a major milestone for our organization and for the citizens we serve,” said FCFT Chief Ned Wiseman. “Bringing on a dedicated Deputy Chief of EMS positions us to build a strong, sustainable EMS system from the ground up. Jeff Dickson’s experience and leadership will be instrumental as we move toward full implementation in 2027.”
The transition to a county-wide fire-based EMS delivery model will allow for improved response times, enhanced coordination between fire and medical services, and a higher level of patient care through integrated operations.
FCFT will continue working closely with community partners, local officials, and healthcare stakeholders throughout the planning and implementation process to ensure a seamless transition.
