Tree Reported on Utility Lines Allen, Kentucky

On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at approximately 1614 hours (4:14 PM), the Allen Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched by the Prestonsburg 911 Center for a report of a tree that had fallen onto power lines on the Allen side of the Seasons Inn.

The reporting party advised that a large tree was hanging on utility lines and extending over the roadway, creating a potential hazard for motorists.

Upon arrival, Allen firefighters conducted a scene assessment and determined that the tree was not resting on electrical power lines, but was instead entangled in what appeared to be cable or telephone lines. Firefighters further determined that the tree was not obstructing the roadway and was not impeding the flow of traffic at the time of their assessment.

Prestonsburg 911 advised responding units that AEP had been notified of the incident. Due to the tree being supported by communication lines and the potential for damage to the utility infrastructure, firefighters determined that there was no safe action that could be taken by the fire department without risking damage to the lines. Responsibility for addressing the situation will fall to either the property owner or the utility company that owns and maintains the affected lines.

The Allen Volunteer Fire Department remained on scene long enough to assess the hazard and ensure there was no immediate danger to the public before returning to service.

The Allen Volunteer Fire Department reminds residents to use extreme caution around any downed or damaged utility lines and to report such hazards immediately to 911. Never attempt to remove trees or debris from utility lines yourself.

Respectfully Submitted,
