Safety is essential, call us to update your property’s fire alarms

Earlier this afternoon, a second fire victim was located inside 1301-1307 Acushnet Avenue. The victim is deceased and was transported from the scene by the State Medical Examiner.

Fire Investigators, fire crews, NBPD Detectives, and MA State Troopers assigned to the Fire Marshals Office searched the structure where it was safe to enter, using the aerial ladder, drones, and having the excavator pick the building apart to locate the victim.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. One of the victims who was initially transported to St. Luke’s Emergency Department and then to Rhode Island Hospital

The New Bedford Fire Department extends its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased victims and best wishes for the ones who were injured.

Update: The patient who was transported to Rhode Island Hospital from this fire remains under their care and was not transported to MA General Hospital.
