Join the Women's Fund SouthCoast on Thursday, October 15 for Women, Power & the Future of Democracy—an evening that will bring together community leaders, advocates, philanthropists, business leaders, elected officials, and changemakers to explore the future of our democracy and the vital role women play in shaping it.

We are honored to welcome Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell for a special fireside conversation and look forward to announcing an outstanding lineup of local, state, and national women's leaders in the weeks ahead.

Applications are now open for the third cohort of the Young Women’s Advisory Council (YWAC)!

The Women’s Fund SouthCoast is seeking young women and gender-expansive youth of color, ages 14–22, with strong connections to New Bedford, who are interested in developing their leadership, advocating for change, and making a meaningful impact in their communities.

Through YWAC, participants have the opportunity to:

• Develop leadership and advocacy skills
• Engage with local leaders, mentors, and guest speakers
• Explore college and career pathways
• Learn about policy, philanthropy, and community organizing
• Identify issues affecting young people and advocate for solutions
• Help direct $20,000 in youth-led grant funding to community organizations
• Receive a $50 stipend per session, with food provided

We are proud of the young leaders who have participated in our first two cohorts and can't wait to welcome our next group of changemakers.

As we close another incredible year at the Women's Fund SouthCoast, we're reflecting on what we accomplished together.

Because of our community, we were able to:

💜 Invest more than $125,000 in community and youth-led grantmaking, supporting organizations and young leaders working to advance gender, racial, and economic justice across the SouthCoast.

💜 Empower women and girls through leadership development, advocacy, civic engagement, research, and initiatives like the Young Women's Initiative, SEED, and Strengthening Voices.

💜 Build for the future by growing our endowment—helping ensure the Women's Fund SouthCoast will be here for generations to come, investing in women and girls for as long as our community needs us.

What happens when young women are given the opportunity to lead?

Over the past nine months, our Young Women's Advisory Council didn't just learn about community challenges—they researched them, met with elected officials, explored philanthropy, awarded $20,000 in youth-directed grants to local organizations, and developed policy recommendations to address the root causes of the issues affecting their communities.

At yesterday's Young Women's Initiative Celebration & Policy Forum, these remarkable young women shared their work with families, community leaders, elected officials, funders, and partners.

This is what youth leadership looks like.

This is what philanthropy looks like.

This is what systems change begins to look like.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not a single moment in history, but an ongoing commitment to dismantling systemic inequities and building communities where everyone can thrive.

At the Women’s Fund SouthCoast, we know that gender, racial, and economic justice are deeply interconnected. We remain committed to investing in women-led solutions, amplifying community voices, and advancing a future where equity is not just an aspiration, but a reality.

Today and every day, we celebrate Black joy, honor the generations who fought for freedom, and recommit ourselves to the work that still lies ahead.

Join us for the Young Women’s Initiative (YWI) Celebration & Policy Forum on Thursday, June 25 from 5:30–7:30 PM at Woodland Commons, UMass Dartmouth!

Celebrate the accomplishments of the second cohort of the Young Women’s Advisory Council (YWAC) and hear directly from youth leaders through a panel discussion and community town hall focused on the issues impacting our community.

The evening will also feature the announcement of four organizations selected to receive a total of $20,000 in grant funding through YWAC’s youth-led participatory grantmaking process.
