Another successful Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive in New Berlin. We collected 20,000 pounds of food. Thanks to students from New Berlin Eisenhower and West, various staff from Froedtert and lots of individuals who helped unload and sort. Thanks to our postal carriers for the extra work needed to make this day happen.

Today’s the day! 🌅📬 Letter carriers across the country are heading out on their routes with one extra mission: collecting your donations for the Food Drive.

If you haven’t already, there’s still time to help! Just leave a bag of nonperishable food by your mailbox before your carrier arrives. Every can, every box, every bag helps stock local food pantries and put meals on the table for families facing hunger.

For more than 30 years, NALC members have proudly led this effort while continuing to serve their communities on their regular routes. Today, we’re grateful for every carrier stepping up and every neighbor lending a hand. Let’s make a difference together!

Just a few days to go until this year’s Food Drive! Letter carriers nationwide are preparing to hit their routes and collect your non-perishable food donations to support local food banks.

As we head into the final countdown, please join us in thanking our partner organizations for their support of this important effort year after year!

So I really hate that so many people are scared of going hungry right now. Ongoing food insecurity is so real in our country and it’s something we absolutely must address in the long term. That being said, my heart is warmed by all the people trying to support their neighbors, food banks, and mobile pantries right now.

In the interim, I think it’s important that people understand donating money is the best way they can help feed the most people. Food banks have relationships with manufacturers and food distributors where they might get products at cost or cheaper than what we can get at the grocery store.

If you have excess food, definitely donate it! If you want to get the most bang for your time and money, volunteer or donate funds. Also, if you are looking to support your community and you’re not sure where to start, Feeding America has a list of food banks in your ZIP Code. I am already volunteering at a local food bank in my new area, but I was amazed to see how many resources I could support by typing in my ZIP Code.

Blessed be the helpers. Thankful for those who give their time and resources to those who have fallen in tough times.

Love hard.
