Our Centenary United Methodist Church partners have been busy helping make our Nest be a great place to be! The men’s group spread mulch and edged the front flower beds last week. Today, multiple volunteers welcomed students and created bags filled with school supplies for each of our teachers. Thank you !

We are so very thankful for our community partners! McNaughton-McKay donated 75 backpacks full of supplies. Cherry Point United Methodist Church and Hyman Chapel AME Zion Church held a book drive so all of our Newcomers to the United States can have a picture dictionary and Centenary United Methodist Church, in collaboration with the Food Lion on MLK Blvd, supplied a delicious spread for our staff before tonight’s Orientation. We appreciate you all more than we can say!

We are proud that ORA is an AVID elementary school. We work hard to exemplify the core values of AVID and to use the strategies of WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading across the curriculum). Every year, 5th grade students have the opportunity to interview for a spot in their middle school's AVID class. This year, we had a large number of students who were chosen for this honor!

Our teachers did an amazing job decorating for Farm to School week. The PreK class won a $200 prize sponsored by Tidewater Grain, a rice farm in Oriental, NC. Thank you to our door judges, Mrs. Jennifer Dacey, Mr. Tommy Wheeler, and Mrs. Michelle Salsman.
