There’s something about Labor Day that feels a little different when you’ve spent your life working for what you have.

The early mornings.
The long days.
The overtime.
The weekends sacrificed.
The hands that are rough from hard work.
The small business owners who never really clock out.
The parents who keep going because somebody is counting on them.

And the people who quietly show up, day after day, and do the work that keeps this country moving.

Labor Day isn’t just the unofficial end of summer.

It’s a reminder that hard work still matters.

Made in NC is sharing a sweet way to bake something delicious using local goods. Grab your favorite Dewey’s cookies and yogurt, and you’ve got an easy treat to enjoy!

Greek Yogurt Layer Cake with Dewey’s 🍪
Recipe Below ⬇️ ⬇️⬇️

What you’ll need:
-Your favorite Greek yogurt (honey vanilla is delicious)
-Your favorite Dewey’s Cookies (pick up from Made in NC)

Step 1: Line a small pan with parchment/plastic wrap and fill with yogurt. The yogurt layer should be about as tall as a cookie.
Step 2: Insert vertical rows of cookies with around 1/4 inch in between each cookie (use about 1/2 a box).
Step 4: Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Step 5: Spoon into a bowl and enjoy!

This dessert should turn out looking like a super thin layer cake and you’ll look like a super talented baker who spent hours in the kitchen 😉

Craven County Economic Development/Craven 100 Alliance is sharing a little history about how Havelock got its name. It’s a fun glimpse into the story behind one of Craven County’s communities!

In 1858, a railroad crossroads in the woods near the Neuse River needed a name. Locals chose to honor General Henry Havelock, a British officer known for his daring rescues during an uprising in India, and the depot, then the town, took his name.
