HOOKS TEXAS Police Department

HOOKS TEXAS Police Department

On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, Officers with the Hooks Texas Police Department were advised of a stolen vehicle from a residence in the city limits. We were later informed that the vehicle was seen sitting at the Valero with two male suspects inside. Hooks Officers and Bowie County Sheriff’s Department went to the location and located the stolen vehicle leaving the Valero. We attempted a traffic stop but the driver would not comply. We then pursued the vehicle to CR 2006 where the vehicle got stuck in the median and the suspects took off on foot. With the assistance of the New Boston Police Department, Bowie County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Telford Search Team, the two suspects were apprehended. Thank you to all agencies who assisted in this matter.

New Boston Schools

New Boston Schools

This morning shortly after 8:00am a New Boston ISD staff member reported seeing a male walking the boundary of the school property carrying what appeared to be a sword. The New Boston High School was immediately placed in a lock-out drill and the New Boston Police Department promptly responded to the situation. The lock-out has been lifted and normal operations have resumed. We appreciate the attentiveness of our staff, and the help from our New Boston PD. Together We’re Better.

I want personally thank the New Boston Police Dept for assisting me in finding/retrieving my lost item today. They were super responsive and helpful. I know they are busy doing more important things and still took the time to help a stranger passing through. Many thanks and Great work!
I asked this question in Bowie County News & Reviews, but thought maybe I should ask your office. Someone told me that it is now illegal to talk on the phone while driving in Texas, but I can't find anything about a law being passed regarding this. I know that it is illegal to text/email while driving, but talk? Does anyone have information? If this has already been addressed, sorry. I haven't been on FB much. Thank you.
