New Boston Police Department’s K9 Bentley to get donation of body armor

New Boston Police Department’s K9 Bentley will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Bentley’s vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.”. Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and NIJ certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 4,101 vests to K9s in all 50 states at a value of $6.9 million, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs that are at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $960 will sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1,744-$2,283, weighs an average of 4-5 lb., and comes with a five-year warranty. For more information, or to learn about volunteer opportunities, please call 508-824-6978. Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. provides information, lists events, and accepts donations at www.vik9s.org, or you may mail your contribution to P.O. Box 9, East Taunton, MA 02718.

Office of the Governor Greg Abbott

Calling on all Texans to observe a moment of silence tomorrow at 7:46 AM CDT (8:46 AM EDT) to honor and remember the victims of the terror attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.

#NeverForget

###
AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott today issued a statewide call for all Texans to observe a moment of silence at 7:46 AM CDT (8:46 AM EDT) tomorrow, September 11, 2020, to honor and remember the victims of the terror attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001 in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. The Governor has also ordered Texas flags across the state to be lowered to half-staff.

"I ask all Texans to hold a moment of silence to honor our fellow Americans who tragically lost their lives and for those who were injured in the horrific terror attacks that took place on September 11, 2001," said Governor Abbott. "We also honor the heroic first responders who selflessly rushed toward danger to save lives and help those in need. Today, as we remember one of the darkest moments in our nation’s history, let us also remember the way Americans united in the face of evil. May that unity and love of country continue to be a guiding light for our nation."

Is it possible to get “slow children at play” signs through the city? I have a special needs son who is high risk for elopement, and random take off running urges. The traffic can come by my home rather fast. I do what I can to secure his safety as is why I am asking this question. It may help slow down some of our traffic if they are aware their is children in the area.
We have several days of nice weather, can I ask if anyone has contacted the company who has torn up the roads and then left there equipment idol for months? Whispering pines is just out of hand.
