East Texas water runs deep - through its forests, farms, and small towns. Protecting it means investing in the systems that keep it here: repairing aging pipes, improving efficiency, and developing alternative supplies closer to where Texans live and work.

How will Prop 4 affect East Texas water? Here are answers to some of the top questions:
1. How will groundwater be impacted?
The intention behind Proposition 4 is to provide a funding tool to strengthen existing infrastructure needs (50%) and to develop new supplies (50%). Prop 4 prohibits the use of the New Water Supply Fund for the transfer of fresh groundwater.

2. Will Prop 4 prioritize or make certain projects more likely?
No, Prop 4 does not prioritize or assign funding to any specific projects, such as a particular reservoir or desalination plant. Current law reserves at least half of these funds for meeting the state's long-term water supply needs. However, for any particular project to receive dedicated funds, it must still go through the regular application processes already in place. Prop 4 funding would be subject to the legislative appropriations process, oversight from a committee focused on water infrastructure funding, and would be distributed through TWDB's existing programs and application processes.

Tomorrow is Election Day for the Republican Primary Runoff for House District 1. This election will shape the future of Northeast Texas and your help is critical to protect and defend our corner of Texas.

Throughout my time in the legislature, I have tirelessly fought for the conservative values we hold dear. From securing the border, protecting the life of a child, defending our 2nd Amendment rights and ensuring that our public schools are taken care of I have stood strong. Due to one vote, we are in this runoff and I can guarantee that every vote I have taken and will take in Austin is to represent my constituents in House District 1.

While my opponent has continuously posted many lies about me, the truth is I will not back down from representing House District 1 and Northeast Texas. Please take the time to go vote tomorrow and bring your friends and family out to vote as well. This election could very well shape our community for years to come.
