Twas the Day Before School… 📚
’Twas the day before school, and all through NB,
Backpacks were packed (well…hopefully 😁)
The lunches were ready, the outfits laid out,
While parents checked ParentSquare to figure things out.
“Where do we drop off? What time do doors open?”
“Which way do we turn? Is the car line still going?!”
No worries, Unicorns—we've got you covered.
Here’s what you need to know for Day One and beyond!
THE BASICS
First Day: MONDAY, August 17th
Doors Open: 7:10 AM
School Begins: 7:45 AM
Dismissal: 3:15 PM
Students should bring:
Backpack
Water bottle
Lunch, if bringing one from home
Any school supplies they did not drop off yet. (CIS can help if you need it!)
ARRIVAL
Our regular arrival locations and procedures remain the same.
Car Riders: Please stay in your vehicle and travel through the front loop for drop-off. If you need to park to bring something into the school or visit the nurse, please park and walk your child to the crosswalk rather than sending them across the parking lot alone.
Bus/Daycare: Buses and daycare vans will arrive through the bus loop on the right side of campus near the gym.
Walkers/Bikers: Students may walk up to the front car rider area and enter through the main entrance.
FIRST DAY ONLY: Families are welcome to walk their student to their classroom Monday morning. Beginning Tuesday, we'll take it from there!
DISMISSAL
Students will dismiss according to their regular transportation method:
Car Riders: Please display your car tag in your window. If you missed Meet the Teacher, don't worry—we'll provide one on Day One and give everyone a little grace! After that, a car tag will be required for every person picking up a student.
Student names will be called, and students will report to an assigned number where staff will help load them safely into your vehicle.
Bus/Daycare: Students will report to the cafeteria at the end of the day. Staff will help ensure they are safely loaded onto the correct bus or daycare van.
Walkers: We have three walker groups:
VE Walker Left — Exits through the cafeteria doors and travels to the left corner at Cowan Street/Geneva Street.
VE Walker Right — Exits through the cafeteria doors and travels to the corner of Geneva/Oak Run Parkway.
Oak Run Walkers — Exit the side of the building near 5th grade and travel toward Oak Run Parkway.
ONE LAST THING…
The first few days of school are exciting—and arrival and dismissal may take a little longer while 500+ Unicorns and their families learn their new routines.
Our priority will always be safety first, efficiency second. Please give our staff and one another a little extra patience during those first few days. We promise, it gets faster!
We cannot wait to welcome our Unicorns back to Veramendi. Whether this is your family's very first day at VE or you've been a Unicorn for years, we're so excited to begin this year together.
Get plenty of rest, set the alarms, pack the backpacks…

IMPORTANT TRAFFIC UPDATE
Our pick-up and drop-off locations have NOT changed.
However, the median at our Oak Run Parkway exit has been temporarily modified. When leaving campus, drivers may now:
Turn LEFT on Oak Run Parkway
OR
Turn RIGHT on Oak Run Parkway
