♟️✨ Looking for a fun after-school activity this fall? Students in grades 1–5 can join the Fall 2026 After-School Chess Program for 10 sessions filled with chess, fun, friendship, and exciting challenges! No experience needed, and all equipment is provided. 🧠♟️

Students can build strategic thinking, problem-solving, focus, patience, and sportsmanship along the way!

There’s nothing quite like a little extra love to help our teachers and staff make it through the excitement (and exhaustion! 😉) of the first week of school!

Earlier this week, our Lamar staff was treated to Chick-fil-A courtesy of the Veramendi Welcome Center, and today, Forty Six Cafe spoiled us with delicious sandwiches and salads! 🥪🥗

We are incredibly grateful for community partners who take the time to support, encourage, and pour into the educators who pour so much into our students each day. These thoughtful gestures mean more than you know!

Thank you, Veramendi Welcome Center and Forty Six Cafe, for helping make our first week back extra special! We are so fortunate to be part of a community that takes such great care of its schools. 💙

And today… THEY WERE FINALLY HERE! 🎉

Our classrooms were full, the halls were buzzing, the smiles were BIG, and Day ONE of the 2026–2027 school year is officially in the books! 📚✏️✨

🦄✨ What a LAMARVELOUS first day! ✨🦄

The halls of Lamar Elementary are officially filled again with smiling faces, happy reunions, new friendships, big hugs, and LOTS of excitement for the year ahead! 💙

From the moment our Unicorns walked through the doors this morning, our campus was buzzing with learning, laughter, and school spirit. There is just something special about that first-day magic—and today reminded us exactly why we love being Lamar Unicorns! 🦄✨

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible staff and families for helping make the first day such a wonderful one. We are so excited for everything this school year has in store!

📓🍎 As students return to school tomorrow, here are some things to remember:

🎒We will be allowing parents to walk their child(ren) to their classrooms tomorrow morning. As you all saw during Meet the Teacher, parking will be tight so plan accordingly. We will be opening our doors at 7:10 AM, and will ask all visitors to leave by 8:00 AM. (NOTE: Monday will be the only day in which we will have an open campus for drop off.)

🚙 Drop Off & Pick Up
-- Drop Off -- As you come off of the Loop, you will take the first right as if you are going to the Legacy Apartments. From there you will see the "Drop Off/Pick Up" lane on your left. Simply follow it to the back of campus and we will be there ready to open the doors and welcome your children.

-- Pick Up -- You will access the pick up lane the same way you did at drop off. As you move towards our 8 stop signs, we will have staff call for your child(ren) and they will report to the stop and we will load them into your car. Please make sure you have the pick up tag we issued at Meet the Teacher!

‼️IMPORTANT: This process is always slow at first, but as we get into a flow after a couple of weeks, it will speed up and wait times will diminish.

The results are in, and we could not be more proud to celebrate our Lamar Unicorns!

Lamar Elementary earned an A — 91/100 — for Exemplary Performance, along with FOUR Distinction Designations! 🏆

📚 Academic Achievement in Reading/Language Arts
🔬 Academic Achievement in Science
📈 Top 25%: Comparative Academic Growth
🎓 Postsecondary Readiness

But the part we’re most proud of can’t be captured by a single letter or number.

It’s the work behind it. 💙

It’s students showing up, working hard, persevering and GROWING.

It’s teachers studying data, adjusting instruction, providing intervention, celebrating progress and refusing to give up on a single student.

It’s paraprofessionals, specialists, support staff and administrators working alongside our teachers to make sure our students have what they need to succeed.

It’s families partnering with us and cheering our Unicorns on every step of the way.

And when you put all of that together?
