Native Tree Spotlight: Wafer Ash (*Ptelea trifoliata*)

Wafer ash is a small native tree with an important role in our ecosystem. Its fragrant flowers support pollinators, and it serves as a host plant for Giant Swallowtail and Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterflies.

Its distinctive round seed pods give the tree its common name and make it easy to spot along trails and in native landscapes.

Native trees like wafer ash help strengthen habitat, support biodiversity, and connect our community to the natural systems that sustain the Comal Springs.
