As of 10:00 am this morning the burn ban has been temporarily lifted for the unincorporated areas of Comal County until 6:00 am Wednesday morning. We are aware of the post on Facebook. The individual that posted it does not work for the Comal County Fire Marshal's Office. Please contact Canyon Lake Fire with your concerns. We do not supervise the individual fire departments in our area. The departments have their own ESD (Emergency Service Districts) boards. We do not condone or agree with the post.

Due to last night's rain, the burn ban has been lifted for the unincorporated areas of Comal County as of 10:50am May 23RD, 2025. Our KBDI (Keetch Byram Drought Index) dropped to 454 today. This is not far from our 500 threshold. Please be very cautious with any fire you light and remain with it until the fire is extinguished. Also, please follow all TCEQ burn rules.

The burn ban will go into effect Friday May23rd, 2025 at 6:00am for the unincorporated areas of Comal County. Our KBDI (Keetch Byram Drought Index) is 517 as of today. The burn ban will be in effect for 90 days, or until we receive significant rainfall countywide and the KBDI drops below the burn ban threshold far enough for the burn ban to be lifted. Please be safe and hopefully we will get some much needed rainfall very soon.
