I have such a problem with this!

Donald Trump says that communities who don’t want data centers are “backwards and poor,” and that we should simply “let Data Reign.”

Let me be blunt: that is an INSULT to Texans and a reckless way to run a state!!

I don’t believe Texas has to sell its water, land, electricity and future to giant corporations just to prove we’re successful.

I believe Texans deserve better than being told to get out of the way while billion-dollar data-center companies consume enormous amounts of electricity, demand scarce water, strain our grid and leave ordinary Texans to deal with the consequences.

And let’s talk about this idea that data centers automatically mean “far lower taxes and jobs all over the place.”

Where is the proof?

Because if the deal requires taxpayers to build the infrastructure, landowners to surrender property rights, ratepayers to shoulder enormous grid costs, and communities to sacrifice precious water resources, that isn’t the Golden Goose. That’s Texans subsidizing somebody else’s golden egg.

And invoking China doesn’t scare me into abandoning common sense.

I’m not anti-technology. I’m not anti-business. I’m not anti-growth.

I’m pro-Texas.

If a data center wants to come to Texas, then prove it can operate without putting our water supply, electric grid, landowners and communities at risk. Pay its fair share. Use technology that reduces its demands. And don’t expect working Texans to foot the bill.

Texas Agriculture Commissioner should be fighting to protect the resources that feed our people—not cheering while corporations compete with farmers, ranchers and families for those same resources.

I refuse to accept the false choice that our only options are “data centers or poverty.”

We can build a prosperous Texas without selling our soul—and our water—to the highest bidder!

That’s the Texas I’m fighting for! My opponent is a Big Data Center guy taking 100’s of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from them!
